Pride of the great City Panadura

06 April 2004 - In my article titled “Huge Crowd gathered to historical city Panadura for Bodhu Maha Samuluwa” of 27 February 2004, hope you can remember the following prediction I did.

“Extremely considerable amount of Panadurians are expected to support this timely movement of great noble Bhikkus for sure as they have been doing throughout the history”.

What ever says who ever no one can say that the above prediction has not come a reality. Among the polling divisions out of Colombo, Panadura sacrificed the most number of votes to the Bhikkus as a number and as a percentage as well. It was 14, 274 with a percentage of 19.21, which is recorded as the highest ever votes for any party which placed third in Panadura (however this is the case for many cities in Western Province and lot other polling divisions in other provinces).

Therefore Panadura has again proved the pride of a Buddhist city.
